The Tangipahoa Chapter provides critically needed services to abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in a humane and compassionate manner. All animals accepted into our shelter are first quarantined, and receive immediate veterinary care. We then provide the animals with a safe, clean, and nurturing environment so they can heal, regain their strength, and ultimately find new, loving homes.

all rescued animals remain in our care until they are adopted. For those few animals that are unable to be adopted, we provide a permanent sanctuary, giving them the same humane and compassionate care we give to all our rescues.

Six ways to be Kind to Animals

1. Report animal abuse. Violence against animals is terrible enough, but it could also be a sign that of other violent behavior, like domestic abuse. Speak out for animals. Get active in local animal welfare policies and legislation.

2. Kindness starts at home. Teach the people in your life, especially children, about the importance of treating animals humanely.

3. Adopt a pet from a shelter or breed-specific rescue. About 8 to 12 million animals enter shelters every year, and more than half of these pets will have to be euthanized because of a lack of homes.

4. Make a donation to your local animal shelter of your choice. A donation of your time , money or needed items can make a big difference in an animals life.

5. Be a responsible pet guardian. Pets should be microchipped and should always wear a collar with an ID tag, so they can be reunited with you if they are ever lost, And take your pet to the veterinarian every year for vaccinations and a health check.

6. Help solve the tragedy of euthanasia of adoptable animals by not contributing to the problem. If you have pets, make sure they are spayed or neutered.
